How Many Months Is NSFAS For?

The length of time that a student can receive NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme) funding depends on various variables such as their academic progress, the duration of their course, and their funding model. However, in general, funding is awarded for the full duration of the student’s academic program, up to a maximum number of years.

For undergraduate programs, funding is awarded for a maximum of five years, which includes any extra years of study that may be required for the completion of the program. This means that if a student completes their undergraduate degree within four years, they will receive funding for four years. If they take five years to finish their degree, they will receive funding for five years.

How Many Months Is NSFAS For?

NSFAS support for postgraduate studies is given for a maximum of three years for students pursuing a master’s degree and a maximum of two years for those pursuing an honours degree. Occasionally, depending on the student’s academic success and money availability, funding may be extended for an additional year.

When Will NSFAS Application End

Applications are now welcome and accepted for 2024. By September 28, 2023, your grant application must be received. Currently, January 21 2024 is the application deadline for 2024. Since late submissions won’t be allowed, be sure to submit your application before the deadline.

Who Is Eligible To Receive NSFAS Funding

To qualify for bursaries, applicants must adhere to four fundamental standards;

every South African national
All winners of SASSA grants are eligible for funding
applicants whose annual household combined income does not exceed R350 000
A disabled person: The total annual household income cannot exceed R600,000.
students who started their studies before 2024 and whose household income is not higher than R122 000 annual

Applying for the NSFAS in 2024

Enter the information that they need.
Choose “Apply.”
Click the next button once you have filled out all the relevant fields (parents’ information, mother’s information, guardian information, spouse information for married students, etc.).
Once all sections and procedures have been completed, you must upload the relevant paperwork.
Once you have uploaded all necessary documents, click “Next.”
Click “submit” after making sure the data and documents you provided are accurate.
