APS stands for Admission Point Score. In South Africa, universities use APS points as one of the tools to see if applicants qualify for their respective programmes. TUT has a unique APS calculation that applicants can use to work out their score. Applicants will need to meet the minimum APS or fall within the testing band in order to be considered for a specific program. Generally, for each matric subject you write an exam for, you’ll points. The APS score for a teaching course at TUT is determined by a combination of a student’s matriculation results and other relevant factors such as work experience, relevant qualifications, and performance in specific subjects or courses. To calculate your APS, add your six best subjects excluding Life Orientation. The points you get for each course will depend on the percentage you score in that particular subject. The APS score is the total points you receive from each course.
